Systems of Change
We know that real change requires a multifacted approach. Our work is layered strategically to create new systems of local success, targeting barriers that local populations face in accessing education– and therefore autonomy over their lives. Participants who engage in our program go on to become professional teachers, doctors, activists and change makers, who give back to their communities, now supported by education, confidence, and a strong collaborative network.
-
Student selection and aid allocation is decided based on need and potential. Women and local communities are given priority
-
Through education, participants are given the power to shape their own lives, and the future of their community. Educational support is coupled with career coaching and counseling.
-
Mentorship and Girls Empowerment Programme builds network creation + skills in participatory leadership. We additionally work with our students and their families to ensure their home lives are conducive to healthy learning and provide women with tools to support informed family planning.
-
We encourage our students to get involved in causes they care about. Participation in events like the East African Girls’ Summit enables participants to become advocates of change at the national and county levels.

Studies have shown that education to women is one of the most powerful levers available for breaking the cycle of intergenerational poverty and is also a well recognized climate change mitigation strategy.
