Our Founders
Chachu Ganya and Chris Bunting met and became fast friends at St. Lawrence University. Upon returning to Kenya after graduation, Chachu quickly saw the need to support marginalized, yet bright students in his home country.
He saw that donors were hesitant to take on the long-term commitment of a scholarship program. With bold ideas and no fear of challenge, Chris and Chachu founded Northern Kenya Fund in 2005.
They set forth on their mission to open doors to education in Northern Kenya, advancing livelihoods, local technologies, food security, and more.
Collaboration is at the core of our work. We have two offices, one in the USA and one in Kenya.
Our USA office guides strategic focus through board engagement and engages international partners, funders, and collaborators to ensure transformational change is taking place in Northern Kenya.
Our Kenya office selects students, implements the core of our strategy, and drives focus based on real-time need in the Chalbi Desert, Marsabit County.
