Daro Sora Qoto
Daro Sora Koto comes from a family of seven siblings. Daro’s parents practice nomadic pastoralism and have relied on their few livestock to sustain their lives.
When Daro was enrolled in school, she emerged as a top student who could not afford the school fees. Her journey with Northern Kenya Fund (NKF) began in 2011 when Daro joined high-school. When Daro’s parents heard about NKF, they approached our office and made a passionate plea on behalf of their daughter who had nothing but her mind.
Northern Kenya Fund held Daro’s hand and gave her a new lease on life. Were it not for NKF, Daro would have otherwise faced a lifelong cycle of illiteracy and poverty. With the help of NKF, Daro completed high school and went ahead to pursue a teaching degree.
After graduating from college, Daro went back home to teach in a local secondary school where she inspired other girls, just like her. She has since transformed her family and assisted her younger siblings in attaining their own education and career paths.
